Create A Space Called Personal Childhood Web
Lately I have reflecting on my life and how hard I have been working towards achieving my goals in education. Throughout my life I have always had a strong sense of family values and the drive to want to be successful in school. The other day while looking to see what our blog assignment was I realized it was about family and how they influence your life. Throughout my life I have been lucky to have such a loving family who values education. For most of my childhood (up to the age 11) I had always lived close to my family. My grandfather always came to the house to watch us kids after school once he retired. Prior to retirement my grandmother used to babysit us.
There were five people who have influenced my life throughout my childhood. The people who had influenced me were my mother, my father, my grandmother, my grandfather and my uncle Jeff. Although each family member plays an important role in my life each them has added different aspects to my life. The two people who had influenced me throughout my life were my mother and my grandfather. When I was younger I had trouble with math and science. Those were my weakest subjects in school and no matter how hard I worked I could not get the hang of math or science. My mother was great at math and she would spend two hours after dinner trying to teach me, but it was still difficult for me. My grandfather was great at both subjects and he would have more patients to help me. I feel that because they both helped me do well in school this was the true beginning of my journey to learning.
I am fortunate enough to be nurtured by all five of my family members. My parents cuddled me and always made sure that I had everything I needed. A roof over my head, clothes on my back and food in my stomach. I remember my mother reading to me when I was really little and when I was old enough we read to each other. My grandparents used to baby sit me and my grandmother and I always spent time baking and doing crafts. I still bake and do crafts whenever I get a chance. Now I cannot wait to until I have children of my own so I can pass these things on to my own children. I remember my dad always playing games with me. Every Friday night was family game night.
I feel all family members care about me and are always there for me whenever I need them. Even in my adult life I can still rely on my family for help and guidance. Everyone needs family and without family you are no one. My family is a very loving family who shows affection. We hug and kiss each other as well as say I Love You. We do anything for each other.
I remember my uncle always made me feel special by taking me on outings. I remember the week before Halloween my Uncle Jeff would take me to the pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin for us to paint. We spent hours in the pumpkin patch looking for a great pumpkin and we would buy some Apple Cider to bring home. After spending the day with my Uncle Jeff he would take me back to my grandparent’s house where we would Spaghetti for dinner and grandpa would draw a face on my pumpkin so I could paint it. I was always told that carving a pumpkin did not last as long as a painted pumpkin. My pumpkin would last through Christmas even though one year it lasted past New Years Day.
